We haven’t been able to get our TV to go and have had other campers look at it but no go. One said he thinks it could be a faulty wire connection between the aerial and the TV. We went in town this morning to get it fixed. A guy worked on it for a couple hours but couldn’t do it. He said that the fault would be in a place he couldn’t get to. But he did replace some wiring and faulty plugs which might have the right effect. We will try when we are in a better receiving location. So no TV. We don’t really need it never watch it on holiday but just would be nice to have it for the news. Not really a problem. Also we haven’t been getting hot water so got that sorted today but still not really hot enough so still boiling extra water for the dishes. So that was our morning gone. We had a walk round town before we returned to the camp and just pottered around there having a bit of a tidy up, washing and a bit of a walk around the area outside camp. So a bit of a nothing day but that’s good after our big day yesterday. Still beautiful sunny days after the morning clouds lift from mid morning. Had a couple of quick short showers go through but they only last for a short time. Still in shorts and t shirts but we’re told today that when we go inland driving beside the Murray river it will get a lot cooler. But all good we have a good heating system in the van which we keep on overnight. Including tonight we have six more days on the Eyres peninsular.
PT sitting on the seat outside of the electricians waiting for him to arrive to work. He doesn’t open until 10.30am. Half the morning has already gone.
After sitting around waiting for the TV to be fixed we had a good walk around town. First started with walking out to the Jetty. The clouds had well lifted and nice and warm. I think all down this west coast of the Eyres Peninsula the towns will have these Jetty’s. So it will become a thing comparing Jettys. Guess there will be a few more.
Looking out from the bottom of town.
At the end of the Jetty looking over to the bay with the land wrapping around in a big curve.
This Jetty like at Smoky Bay had the enclosed area for swimming. A family came down for a swim while we were there. They said it was freezing.
Looking back to town at the old Pub on the foreshore.
Town Pub nice old building.
Standing in the middle of the road looking down through town to the water. A pretty town with all the trees in the centre of the road.
Back at camp. Have had a tidy up and completed doing all the washing, hung out now for a walk around the outside of camp. This is the beach at the bottom of the camp which is terraced down the hill to this beach which looks small but it continues round the corner then sweeps around up to the end of the land which you can see in the distance.
The beach closer up on the corner which has a walkway on the right going into camp.
Looking back the other way. Lots of little boats in these towns as all round the Peninsula is great for fishing let alone the oyster farms. And big in prawns. What a great area. Yum. Just off this beach there is a small island you can walk out to at low tide. Like at Scott’s Landing at home.
As the tide is in we are walking over the rocks to the front beach. At low tide you can walk in sand round to the next beach.
This is all beach at low tide. Still in front of the other side of the camp.
We have come over to the continuation of the beach sweeping around to the other side of the camp. The camp sits out on, you could say like a small peninsular which is 6kms out from town. Just the camp out here nothing else but the land and beach around it. Great peaceful spot. Really enjoyed our three nights here.
This is the track down to the above beach going up into the camp.
Leaving tomorrow so few more photos one taken from our site looking down over the water. Just such a well laid out camp with all these lovely trees.
Turn the van around for the two last nights means the winds aren’t blowing into the door
This shows how we are second row back behind the waterfront sites which so think you would have to book well in advance.
Last night last sunset. There’s a little island off the beach in front of us. Not the one I mentioned earlier, can’t walk out to this one. Hence the road coming down to the caravan park is called Two Island Rd. And the camp is called Streaky Bay Island caravan Park. A lovely spot and fantastic camp. Has everything you need with superb facilities. But we must move on tomorrow short trip further down the peninsular to Elliston. Another well protected bay by the big cliffs. All these different towns down the coast are all similar, sweeping big bays which are protected by their high cliffs where the sea roars. But all different in their own ways but the most common thing is plenty of seafood and fish. Great area to be in.
