Hay NSW — Lake Talbot Narrander, NSW 17th May, 2023.

It was 2degs this morning when we woke up but with these sunny cloudless days, it soon warms up. Just travelled174kms today to Narrandera still following the Murrumbidgee River. Took it slowly as we can’t get into the camps until 12.00 noon and there was nothing of interest to stop and see on the way. As we left Hay and on our way we started to see some cotton farms which we were told to look out for.  Made a change from all the wheat farms we have been following. Our camping ground, is called Lake Talbot Tourist Park which is just a short distance out of the town Narrrandera. As we haven’t done much today except driving,  I will probably post a lot of photos of the camp ground. Best one we have been too. Lovely well kept grounds lots of grass and very new facilities. Not a lot to do in this town except walk, what they call a Two Foot Heritage Walk around the town. What we saw quickly driving through today it all looked a very nice place. It is more about the recreational things to do on the lake. At one end they have a big water park for swimming with slides etc. We will be taking a walk along the lake tomorrow as it gets wider to what we saw today just down in front of the camp.

This is a cotton farm. When we passed them we couldn’t stop for a good photo as the highway was quite narrow and no room to stop on the side of the road. So quickly through PTs side window I zoomed passed him through the window until I could avoid the window frame. A bit blurry due to the sideways speed. On the fields the cotton fluff looks really white not the colour above. When there were no cars coming we quickly stopped and I jumped out to pick some of the cotton off the road which was blown over by the wind.

Just looks like what we call cotton wool. This piece has a few seeds from the grasses that have got caught up in the cotton.

On the way through this morning we  stopped in one of the parking rest areas they have along the highways. Their motto signs before these parking areas is ‘take a break, if drive tired you could die’. We made a coffee,  enjoyed the sun and quietness amongst the trees.

OK I have gone mad, with the beautiful Autumn leaves here, in town and in the camping grounds. They look amazing when the sky is so blue.

Last one.

Now going made with photos around our camp. As I said best camp yet which you will see why. The facilities are so modern and new. Great concrete slabs and grass sites.

Above and below looking at different angles of the campground.

This one shows how all this row is designed for drive through caravans and their cars so they don’t have to unhitch the car and park it beside the caravan as they would do a normal site. They drive down the back of the row and drive through and when the go they drive out the other side. So easy. The first site that we are on isn’t a drive through so that’s why I asked for it. As the caravans couldn’t use it. We are at the high end and it all slopes down hill making most sites one level down from the other.

No sitting inside looking out of the window over the lake.

Looking out over the back of the van we look down over the lake. I am taking this from camp level looking down over a lower road then down over the bank of the lake. Not a great view from up here but so quiet and peaceful.

Turning around from where I was standing above, now looking through the camp. That’s us all on our own no close neighbours which is always good. You can tell we haven’t done much today showing so much of a camp. But it’s just so well laid out and well kept.

Had a quick walk down to the lake in front of us but will do a longer walk tomorrow to where the lake widens. This is looking one way.

Now looking the other way down towards the big swimming complex which we will see closer tomorrow.

Another clown in the family. What a great spot to spend a couple of nights.

PT looked at the Aussie weather map today and it looks like some rain could come in near Sydney so hope it doesn’t reach Canberra where we head to on Friday. So our luck with the weather could change. Hope not as we are slowing down now. We were going to break that trip with a stop half way from here but decided to go straight to Canberra. Making that a three night stop instead of the two that we had planned. Not so much driving over the last two days and while we are here in Narrandera. Just only one more big drive 317kms on Friday. As you can see it was a bit of a nothing day today but we enjoyed the slower pace. Tomorrow will be much the same pace without the driving. Until then good night 😴
